Brown Paper Couture

Objective: To create a paper dress sculpture of a real haute couture designer dress.

Materials: Kraft brown paper of different weights, pins, tape, tissue paper.

Process: A haute couture designer dress from Tony Ward’s 2014 Spring Collection inspired by architecture and origami flowers. This very detailed paper couture dress is made from cardboard, paper tape, and brown paper using various crafting & paper folding techniques.

This project was very exciting and fun as I was able to challenge myself with reproducing a very intricate haute couture designer dress by strictly using paper materials. It took a total of four weeks to make, including a lot of careful planning. By using various paper folding techniques, a lot of scrunching and gluing, and of course, patience, I was very successful with replicating my chosen designer dress.
